Penny Whistle

Class: Original Piano Solo

Published: 1932.

Comment: An introductory scale flourish leads into a quote, taking us into the world of penny-whistle users. The main theme keeps well up in the top of the piano, to suit the register of the instrument it's imitating. After its initial statement, 'Pop Goes the Weasel' is used again, this time to form a bridge to a second statement of the main theme. The middle section, arrived at by means of a single chord, is one of those flowing melodies that Billy had the secret of producing.
