| Green Tulips Class: Original piano composition Published: 1935. Comment: Uses material provided by Austen Croom-Johnson. The opening section is based on a theme rather than a melody, skilfully built up with the use of a contrasting phrase. The second subject is more rhythmic, with much contrasting use of three beats against two. The third part is yet another of Billy's beautiful cantabile melodies. The piece ends with a return to the opening theme. It has been recorded in a version for piano and harpsichord performed by Billy and Croom-Johnson. |
